EFCC Arrests Top Customs Officer Over ₦3 Billion Fraud



In another high-profile anti-corruption move, the EFCC has arrested a senior Nigeria Customs officer allegedly involved in a ₦3 billion duty evasion and fraud scandal.

On Monday, April 7, 2025, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) confirmed the arrest of a senior Nigeria Customs officer in Lagos over a major revenue fraud linked to import duty evasion worth ₦3 billion.

According to the EFCC, the suspect colluded with shipping companies and clearing agents to falsify documents and divert revenue meant for the federal government.

Investigations are ongoing, and more arrests are expected. The EFCC has vowed to bring all collaborators to book.
