The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) has resumed dialogue with the Federal Government today, April 7, 2025, over the long-standing demand for a new national minimum wage as workers threaten to strike.
Today in Abuja, April 7, 2025, the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) and the Trade Union Congress (TUC) resumed talks with the Federal Government regarding a revised minimum wage. Labour leaders have insisted on ₦100,000 monthly minimum wage, citing inflation and cost of living.
The government, however, is proposing ₦62,000, stating budget limitations and economic strain.
NLC President Joe Ajaero stated that workers are prepared to shut down the country if their demands are not met by April 12. Talks are ongoing, and Nigerians are watching closely for the outcome.
