The Labour Party in Benue State has criticized Governor Hyacinth Alia’s administration for failing to meet expectations despite receiving substantial federal allocations.
While acknowledging certain strides made under Alia's leadership, the party expressed dissatisfaction with the overall performance of the All Progressives Congress (APC) administration.
Speaking to reporters, the Labour Party State Chairman, Ibrahim Idoko, offered a nuanced assessment of the governor’s tenure.
He highlighted that, in comparison to previous administrations, Alia had achieved commendable milestones, particularly in infrastructure.
“When you compare the performance of the present administration to the previous ones, you can commend this government for landmark developments because people had biases about government performance. Under this administration, people have begun to see quality renovations and some wonders,” Idoko remarked.
However, the chairman was quick to temper his praise with criticism, citing the administration’s failure to fulfill many of its campaign promises, including the development of 16 township roads.
“When we talk of general performance, in line with what has come to the state and the electoral promises made, this administration has performed below pass mark,” he added.
The Labour Party’s mixed review of Alia’s administration reflects growing concerns among residents who hoped for more tangible progress under the APC-led government.
