Delta Music Legend Arube Set to Marry Three Wives in Cost-Cutting Ceremony

In a highly unusual and viral marriage announcement, Delta State music legend Arube has set social media abuzz with his upcoming wedding to three women simultaneously.

The flier, which went viral online, features Arube pictured alongside his three to-be wives, Oghenekome, Ewoma, and Oghenekaro, all dressed in matching attire with him.

Confirming the event in a phone interview on Wednesday, Arube’s foster son and one of the RSVPs, Emperor Efih (Oscar), revealed that the ceremony would proceed as planned, despite one of the originally intended four wives pulling out for personal reasons.

Efih explained that the decision to marry three women at once was driven by financial prudence. “Arube married two women about 20 years ago. One divorced him, leaving him with just one wife. To cut costs, he decided to marry four women this year. Along the way, one pulled out,” he said.

Arube, a celebrated figure in Delta State’s music scene, has been performing Isoko highlife music for over three decades.

He began his career as a driver while pursuing his passion for music, eventually forming his dance band, which he named after himself, about 12 years ago. Since then, he has released over ten albums and solidified his reputation as a cultural icon.

Despite the grandeur of his upcoming nuptials, Efih clarified that the three brides were not wooed at the same time or place. “None of them is from his community,” he noted.

Two of the women have already given birth to a child each for Arube, while the third is yet to have children. Traditional rites for all three were completed on the same day last year, paving the way for the upcoming wedding.

Arube hails from Uzere Kingdom in Isoko-South Local Government Area, while his three brides represent different regions of Delta State.

Oghenekome is from Lagos-Iyede in Ndokwa East LGA, Ewoma is from Oruamudhu Ozoro Kingdom in Isoko North LGA, and Oghenekaro is from Uroto Quarter, Ozoro Kingdom in Isoko North LGA.

As the wedding day approaches, Arube’s decision has sparked widespread debate and curiosity, with many hailing his commitment to tradition and practicality.

The event promises to be a blend of cultural celebration and modern spectacle, reflective of the legendary musician’s larger-than-life persona.
