In a significant breakthrough, the Anambra State Police Command has apprehended a 38-year-old man suspected of involvement in kidnapping and armed robbery.
Identified as Pablo Mamu, the suspect hails from Delta State but has allegedly been operating in several communities within the Ihiala Local Government Area of Anambra State.
According to a statement released by the command, Mamu’s arrest followed intelligence-driven operations targeting criminal networks terrorizing the area.
The police noted that the suspect is believed to be linked to multiple abduction and robbery cases that have plagued the region.
Speaking on the development, the Police Public Relations Officer assured residents of the command’s commitment to ensuring safety and security.
“This arrest is a testament to our unwavering determination to rid the state of criminal elements. We urge the public to continue supporting our efforts with timely and credible information,” he stated.
Mamu is currently in police custody, where he is assisting with further investigations. Authorities have also vowed to intensify efforts to apprehend other members of the suspect's gang.
Residents of Ihiala LGA have expressed relief at the news, with many commending the police for their proactive measures in combating crime.
