Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde has vowed that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) will use every resource at its disposal to reshape both the party and Nigeria itself.
Speaking Thursday in Abuja at the inauguration of the Board of Governors and unveiling of the Roadmap for the Peoples Democratic Institute (PDI), Makinde emphasized that revitalizing the PDP is essential to restoring hope and progress for the nation.
The PDI, established in 2000 as the PDP’s research arm, has been a key player in promoting democratic values across Nigeria and Africa.
With a mission to foster a new democratic culture through education, training, and research, the institute aims to strengthen the party’s role in Nigerian governance.
According to Makinde, the newly inaugurated Board of Governors will play a critical role in sharpening the PDP’s ideological focus.
"We will fix PDP, and then PDP will fix Nigeria. That will be the basis of real hope for the people of Nigeria,” Makinde declared.
As the 2027 elections approach, he stated that the PDP must be the party to offer Nigerians "real hope" and chart a renewed course for the country.
Governor Makinde stressed the urgency of providing leadership that aligns with the country’s needs and expectations, calling on leaders to ask themselves what kind of legacy they intend to leave behind.
"Our country needs direction. Nigerians are looking up to the PDP to provide an ideological foundation," he added, pledging his commitment to strengthening both the PDP and Nigeria’s democratic framework.
Makinde’s rallying cry reflects the PDP’s renewed ambitions to serve as the beacon of stability, progress, and hope for Nigeria’s future.
