The Trump administration announced Thursday that it has officially revoked Harvard University's ability to enroll foreign students, marking a significant escalation in the ongoing standoff between the White House and the elite institution.
In a letter addressed to Harvard, Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem stated: “Effective immediately, Harvard University’s Student and Exchange Visitor (SEVIS) Program certification is revoked.” The SEVIS certification is the primary authorization that allows U.S. colleges to admit international students.
The move comes amid growing tensions between former President Donald Trump and the university, with critics calling it a politically charged decision that could impact thousands of international students.
