Former Senator and elder statesman, Barnabas Gemade, has expressed deep sorrow over the passing of his political ally and brother, Senator Joseph Akaagerger, who died recently in Abuja after a brief illness.
In a heartfelt condolence visit to the late senator's residence in Abuja, Chief Gemade, who holds the traditional title of Nom Iyange u Tiv, extended his sympathies to the widow and the bereaved family, urging them to find solace in God, who he described as "the giver and taker of life."
Describing the late Akaagerger as “Ambe u Konshisha,” a pillar in the Konshisha local government area and the Tiv nation at large, Gemade noted that his death is not only a personal loss but a great blow to the entire Tiv community.
“I have lost a dependable brother,” Gemade said solemnly. “His wisdom, loyalty, and commitment to the growth of our people will be dearly missed.”
He prayed for God’s comfort over the family and asked for strength and fortitude for them to navigate the difficult period.
The late Senator Joseph Akaagerger was a respected voice in Nigerian politics, known for his principled stance and commitment to the Tiv cause. His contributions to national development, particularly during his time in the Senate, have been widely acknowledged.
As tributes continue to pour in from across the country, the Tiv nation mourns a son whose legacy of service and leadership will not be forgotten.
