PDP Support Group Hits Back at Wike, Labels Him “Chief Betrayer” Behind Party Crisis

A political support group under the banner of PDP Frontiers for Change and Progress has launched a scathing attack on the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, accusing him of being the principal instigator of the crisis plaguing the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

Reacting to Wike’s recent outburst in which he blamed Governors Seyi Makinde of Oyo State and Peter Mbah of Enugu State for the party’s internal woes, the group urged the former Rivers State governor to “honourably exit” the PDP rather than remain within to “sow discord.”

The National Coordinator of the group, Emeka Yellow Ikpegbu, described Wike’s comments as an attempt to twist facts and shift blame, stating that it was laughable for someone who allegedly worked against the PDP in the 2023 general elections to now brand committed party leaders as betrayers.

“Wike is not only standing truth on its head, but he is also playing to the gallery,” Ikpegbu said. “The man’s spirit left PDP long ago. It’s time he made it official. His continuous presence is toxic and destabilising.”

The group’s comments were in response to Wike’s fiery statement on Sunday where he announced his withdrawal from all gentleman agreements within the PDP, blaming Makinde and Mbah for frustrating reconciliation efforts and violating internal pacts.

According to Wike, both governors backtracked on an earlier agreement to retain Senator Samuel Anyanwu as National Secretary and to withdraw legal actions surrounding the party’s leadership crisis in Rivers State.

But the PDP Frontiers for Change and Progress dismissed Wike’s claims as “half-truths and blackmail,” accusing him of launching a smear campaign to cover his own tracks.

“Wike and his loyalists who are busy hijacking PDP structures across states are the real problem. Instead of masquerading as a peacekeeper, he should come clean and leave the party. Enough is enough,” Ikpegbu declared.

The group also alleged that Wike had long acted as a mole for the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), pointing to his frequent criticisms of PDP leadership and his alliance with APC top shots since his appointment as FCT Minister.

“Wike betrayed PDP in 2023 and is still at it. The earlier he walks away, the better for the party’s survival and progress,” Ikpegbu added.

The latest round of accusations further highlights the deepening cracks within the PDP as it struggles to find unity ahead of key political battles.
