In a major show of unity and party loyalty, the Progressive Governors’ Forum (PGF) has officially endorsed President Bola Ahmed Tinubu as the sole presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) for the 2027 general election.

The landmark endorsement was announced on Thursday at the APC National Summit held at the State House Conference Centre in Abuja.
The PGF, a powerful coalition of all APC-elected governors, is chaired by Governor Hope Uzodimma of Imo State. Speaking on behalf of the governors, Uzodimma expressed unflinching support for President Tinubu’s leadership and declared their collective readiness to mobilise nationwide backing for his re-election.
“We, the Progressive Governors, stand united in our resolve to support President Tinubu. We will work tirelessly to deliver our respective states for the APC in 2027,” Uzodimma stated.
He praised the President’s “bold reforms, economic vision, and decisive leadership,” which he said had steered the country through challenging times and positioned Nigeria on the path of recovery and sustainable growth.
The endorsement is seen as a strategic move to consolidate internal party cohesion and send a clear signal to political opponents that the APC remains firmly behind its leader.
Political observers say the PGF’s announcement effectively closes the door to any internal contest for the party’s 2027 presidential ticket, setting the stage early for what is expected to be a heated national election.
The summit also served as a platform for the APC to review its achievements, reassess its goals, and strategize for the future — with Tinubu’s second term bid now clearly at the centre of the party’s vision.
With the endorsement by the APC governors, attention will now shift to grassroots mobilisation, policy delivery, and national outreach as President Tinubu prepares to seek a renewed mandate from Nigerians in 2027.
