Governor Alia, Benue State Mourn with Dr. Tunji Olowolafe Over Wife’s Passing

On behalf of the Government and the good people of Benue State, His Excellency, Governor Hyacinth Iormem Alia, has extended his heartfelt condolences to Dr. Tunji Olowolafe, Chancellor of Ekiti State University, following the tragic loss of his beloved wife, Mrs. Gbemisola Olutayo Olowolafe.
Mrs. Olowolafe passed away on March 11, 2025, and was laid to rest earlier today in Lagos in a solemn ceremony attended by family members, close friends, and dignitaries from across the country.

In a message of sympathy, Governor Alia described the passing as a painful and irreplaceable loss. 

He offered prayers for the family, urging them to take comfort in the cherished memories they shared with the late Mrs. Gbemisola, and in the outpouring of love and support from Nigerians far and wide.

“In this difficult time, I pray that Dr. Tunji Olowolafe and the entire family find solace in the beautiful memories they shared with her, and in the love and prayers of friends and well-wishers across the nation,” Governor Alia stated.

The Governor further prayed for the peaceful repose of her soul and asked God to grant the family the fortitude to bear the heavy loss.

“May her soul rest in eternal peace, and may God grant the family the strength to bear this irreplaceable loss. Amen,” he concluded.

Mrs. Gbemisola Olutayo Olowolafe is remembered as a woman of grace, compassion, and quiet strength, whose life touched many within and beyond her immediate community.
