The Executive Governor of Benue State, His Excellency, Rev. Fr. Dr. Hyacinth Iormem Alia, has approved the appointment of Hon. Solomon Iorpev as the Director General of the Benue State Signage and Advertising Agency.
Until this appointment, Hon. Iorpev served as the Governor’s Technical Adviser on Media, Publicity, and Strategic Communication.
In his charge to the new DG, Governor Alia emphasized the critical role of the agency in managing and regulating outdoor advertisements and signages across Benue State.
He urged Hon. Iorpev to ensure that the state's visual landscape remains aesthetically pleasing and safe while upholding the highest environmental and infrastructural standards.
The Governor congratulated Hon. Iorpev and encouraged him to see his new position as a greater call to service for the development of Benue State.
Hon. Solomon Iorpev brings a wealth of experience to the role, holding a Master’s degree in Public Relations and Advertising, among other qualifications.
Meanwhile, following his appointment, the new DG has issued a strong warning against the indiscriminate placement of billboards and advertising structures across the state. He noted that improper placements not only deface city centers but also pose safety hazards.
Hon. Iorpev urged businesses and advertisers to follow due process by obtaining the necessary permits from the Urban Development Board before placing advertisements.
He further reminded all defaulters owing payments on signage and advertisements to clear their outstanding dues immediately, as enforcement measures will soon be intensified.
With this appointment, the government aims to enforce better regulation of public advertising spaces while promoting an organized and visually appealing Benue State.
