Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has expressed deep sorrow over the tragic fire incident at Aleshinloye Market in Ibadan, Oyo State, and the devastating tanker explosion on Otedola Bridge in Lagos.
The twin tragedies, which resulted in the loss of lives and destruction of property worth millions, have sent shockwaves across the nation.
In a statement released on Tuesday, Atiku extended his condolences to the victims’ families, urging authorities to take proactive measures to prevent such disasters in the future.
“My heart goes out to all those who lost loved ones and property in these unfortunate incidents.
The pain of such losses is immeasurable, and I stand in solidarity with the affected families and communities,” Atiku said.
He further called for improved safety regulations and emergency response systems to mitigate the impact of similar occurrences.
The fire outbreak at Aleshinloye Market, a major commercial hub in Ibadan, left many traders devastated as shops and goods worth millions of naira were reduced to ashes.
Meanwhile, the tanker explosion on Otedola Bridge once again highlighted the persistent dangers of fuel-laden trucks on Nigerian highways.
As the nation mourns, Atiku urged relevant agencies to investigate the causes of the incidents and implement necessary policies to enhance public safety.
