Senior Advocates Accuse Justice Oshodi of Bias, Demand Recusal in Emefiele’s Trial

Two Senior Advocates of Nigeria (SAN), Olalekan Ojo and Kazeem Gbadamosi, have accused Justice Abdulrahman Oshodi of bias in the ongoing trial of former Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) Governor, Godwin Ifeanyi Emefiele.

The legal heavyweights have formally demanded that the judge step down from the case, citing concerns over impartiality and fairness.

The accusation of bias stems from alleged conduct by Justice Oshodi, which the defense lawyers claim has raised serious doubts about his ability to preside over the case without prejudice.

They argue that Emefiele deserves a fair trial, free from judicial predisposition, and have called for the immediate reassignment of the case to another judge.

Emefiele, who has been embroiled in multiple legal battles since his ousting as CBN governor, is facing charges related to alleged financial misconduct and abuse of office.

His trial has been a subject of national attention, with legal experts and political analysts closely watching the proceedings.

The demand for Justice Oshodi’s recusal adds another layer of controversy to the already high-profile case. If granted, it could significantly alter the course of the trial, potentially leading to delays or a reassessment of the charges against the former apex bank chief.

As the legal tussle continues, all eyes remain on the judiciary’s next move. Will Justice Oshodi step aside, or will he defend his impartiality and proceed with the case? The coming days will be crucial in determining the trajectory of Emefiele’s legal battle.
