President Bola Tinubu landed at Akanu Ibiam International Airport, Enugu, on Friday for a significant official visit. The Nigerian leader arrived aboard the Nigeria Air Force Airbus A330 at approximately 1:22 PM, receiving a warm welcome from dignitaries and state officials.
Among those present to receive the President were Enugu State Governor Peter Mbah; Imo State Governor Hope Uzodimma; Abia State Governor Alex Otti; Anambra Deputy Governor; Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives Benjamin Kalu; former Senate President Anyim Pius Anyim; Minister of Works Dave Umahi; and oil magnate Arthur Ezeh, among others.
During the one-day visit, President Tinubu is set to commission several transformative projects initiated by the Mbah administration. According to a statement issued by the Secretary to the State Government, Prof. Chidiebere Onyia, the projects to be unveiled include the Enugu International Conference Centre, a multi-auditorium and multi-functional facility poised to host international events.
The Smart Green Schools, thirty completed and equipped schools, are part of a broader initiative to construct 260 schools across all wards in the state. Additionally, sixty completed and equipped Type 2 Primary Healthcare Centres, also part of a plan to build 260 such facilities across the state, will be inaugurated. The President will also unveil ninety completed urban roads within Enugu City.
Further projects include the Command and Control Centre, a state-of-the-art security facility with advanced surveillance capabilities, and 150 AI-embedded patrol vehicles to enhance security operations in the state.
In addition to these urban projects, President Tinubu is expected to commission several completed rural roads, emphasizing his administration's commitment to infrastructure development and rural integration.
The visit has been described as a significant milestone for Enugu State, showcasing the Mbah administration’s dedication to transformative projects aimed at improving the lives of residents and bolstering the state’s economic prospects.
