The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), in collaboration with other security agencies, has conducted a series of successful operations, resulting in significant drug seizures and arrests across Nigeria.
At a Nigerian port, 293,000 capsules of tramadol were seized during a joint operation involving NDLEA, Customs, DSS, police, and other agencies.
A pistol and 26 rounds of 7.65mm live ammunition were also recovered, while the consignee and notify party, Makata Emmanuel, was arrested.
In Borno State, two suspects, Ishaya Wabba (54) and Samaila Audu (44), were apprehended at Pompomari Bypass in a Toyota Sienna bus containing 293,000 capsules of tramadol.
Another suspect, Sanusi Abdul Hamid (37), was arrested in the Gwange area with 260,000 capsules of the same substance.
Additionally, Modu Kolera (35) was caught in the Customs area with 8.5 kilograms of cannabis, 5,000 tramadol pills, 7,500 diazepam tablets, 14,500 exol tablets, and 50 liters of a psychoactive substance known as "suck and die."
In Oyo State, Gafar Saminu (30) was arrested in Ayete with 33.5 kilograms of cannabis sativa.
Meanwhile, in Enugu State, NDLEA operatives raided Aria New Market and recovered 94 kilograms of cannabis sativa.
In Lagos, a consignment of 32 kilograms of ephedrine, a precursor chemical intended for the South East, was intercepted at the Young Shall Grow Luxurious Vehicles Park in Maza-Maza.
Commending the officers and men involved in the operations across MAKIA, MMIA, Anambra, Borno, Lagos, Oyo, Enugu, and Tincan Commands, NDLEA Chairman, Brig. Gen. Mohamed Buba Marwa (rtd), praised their efforts.
He urged them to sustain their commitment to reducing drug supply and demand across the country.
These operations demonstrate the unwavering resolve of Nigerian law enforcement agencies in dismantling drug trafficking networks and enhancing public safety.
