Former Vice President and 2023 presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Atiku Abubakar, has called on the National Assembly to prioritize transparency and fairness as it reviews the ongoing Tax Reform Bills.
In a statement, Atiku emphasized the importance of the reforms in addressing Nigeria's economic challenges, urging lawmakers to ensure that the process reflects the interests of all citizens, especially the most vulnerable.
"These reforms have far-reaching implications for businesses and ordinary Nigerians alike. The review must be open, fair, and focused on long-term benefits for the economy," he stated.
Atiku also warned against politicizing the process, urging all stakeholders to put the nation’s economic stability above partisan interests.
The Tax Reform Bills, introduced as part of the government's efforts to modernize the tax system and boost revenue, have sparked public debate, with concerns raised about their potential impact on businesses and individuals.
The National Assembly has assured Nigerians of a thorough review, promising public engagement to ensure the bills are well-balanced and inclusive.
