Senate Pledges Continued Support for JAMB’s Role in Education Transformation

 The Senate has committed to strengthening the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) as it works to elevate Nigeria’s educational standards.

 During an oversight visit to JAMB headquarters on Tuesday, Senator Muntari Dandutse, Chairman of the Senate Committee on Tertiary Institutions, assured the board of continuous backing from the legislature to support its transformative goals.

Senator Dandutse commended JAMB's progress in modernizing Nigeria's admission processes and reaffirmed the committee's dedication to securing necessary resources and legislative support. 

“We will continue to work collaboratively to secure the resources and legislative backing needed to propel JAMB to greater heights,” he said, emphasizing the committee's commitment to a transparent, accessible education system. 

He encouraged JAMB to maintain high standards of integrity and accountability, acknowledging the board’s role in promoting fairness and merit-based admissions. 

Dandutse also noted that the Senate Committee on Tertiary Institutions is actively working to align Nigeria’s education standards with global benchmarks, a move aimed at reducing student migration to other countries.

The senator lauded JAMB's recent reforms, including digital registration, biometric verification, and streamlined testing procedures, which he described as "transformative measures" that have restored public confidence in Nigeria’s admission system. 

These advancements have positioned Nigeria as a leader in technology-driven educational assessments, he said.

As part of its oversight mandate, the Senate committee pledged to work on making JAMB's computer-based test (CBT) centers accessible in underserved regions, a move intended to enhance educational access across the country.

 The committee's visit highlights an ongoing partnership aimed at bolstering JAMB's mission to make Nigeria's tertiary admissions process more efficient and inclusive.

Senator Dandutse concluded by recognizing JAMB’s significant role in shaping Nigeria’s educational landscape, describing it as an essential institution committed to advancing transparency, accessibility, and fairness in tertiary admissions.
