In a bold move to address unemployment, the Federal Government has trained 541 young Nigerians in advanced agricultural practices, according to the Minister for Youth Development, Ayodele Olawande.
Speaking at an event in Abuja, Olawande emphasized the initiative’s aim to create sustainable jobs while boosting food production in the country.
“This program equips our youths with modern techniques in agriculture, empowering them to transform their communities and reduce unemployment,” he stated.
The training covered innovative farming methods, agribusiness management, and the use of technology in agriculture, ensuring participants are well-prepared to compete in the global market.
Participants applauded the program, expressing optimism about the opportunities it presents. “This has given us the tools to not only earn a living but to contribute meaningfully to Nigeria’s economy,” one trainee said.
The government’s focus on youth-driven agricultural development is seen as part of broader efforts to diversify the economy and promote entrepreneurship among young Nigerians.
This initiative aligns with global trends encouraging youths to view agriculture as a viable and profitable career path.
