In a recent health warning, the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) has alerted Nigerians to the presence of counterfeit condoms flooding the market.
The agency cautioned against the illegal sale and distribution of Foula Condoms, a brand that NAFDAC revealed has not been registered or approved for sale in Nigeria.
NAFDAC issued the warning after discovering that the unregistered product is being sold in local stores and by street vendors, posing potential health risks to users.
The agency stressed that unregulated condoms may not meet quality standards, increasing the likelihood of product failure and risking users' health and safety.
In its statement, NAFDAC urged Nigerians to be vigilant and to only purchase condoms from reputable brands and sources. It also called on the public to report any suspicious or unregistered products to authorities.
This advisory is part of NAFDAC's ongoing efforts to combat the proliferation of fake and substandard products that threaten public health in Nigeria.
Consumers are advised to look for NAFDAC registration numbers on products before purchase and report any irregularities to ensure safer and more secure healthcare products in the market.
