The All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, has emerged victorious in the Ondo State governorship election, winning in all 18 Local Government Areas (LGAs), including Ese-Odo LGA, the stronghold of his main opponent.
In a stunning result at Ese-Odo, Aiyedatiwa secured 14,511 votes, more than doubling the 7,813 votes garnered by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate, Agboola Ajayi.
This clean sweep across the state solidifies Aiyedatiwa's dominance and marks a significant blow to Ajayi, who had banked on a strong performance in his home LGA to bolster his chances.
With the APC's resounding victory, Aiyedatiwa is set to lead Ondo State, continuing the party's hold on the region.
Political analysts believe this outcome highlights both APC's strategic campaign execution and voter dissatisfaction with the PDP.
Election observers commended the process as largely peaceful, with voter turnout described as moderate. The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) is expected to formally announce the results soon.
