President Tinubu Approves Mandatory NIN Authentication Across All Federal Government Agencies

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved the implementation of the National Identity Number (NIN) authentication system across all ministries, departments, and agencies (MDAs) of the Federal Government.
The move aims to enhance transparency, eliminate identity fraud, and improve the efficiency of public service delivery.

According to a statement released by the presidency, the directive mandates all federal institutions to integrate NIN authentication into their operations as a key requirement for accessing government services.

This policy is expected to streamline identity verification processes, reduce duplication of efforts across agencies, and help in the fight against corruption and ghost workers within the public sector.

Experts have lauded the development, noting that it aligns with global best practices in digital governance and identity management.

The National Identity Management Commission (NIMC) has been tasked with providing the necessary support to MDAs to ensure smooth implementation.

With this decision, the Federal Government is reinforcing its commitment to data-driven governance and national security through a unified identity system.
