Operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) have successfully intercepted a significant shipment of cocaine concealed in everyday food items, thwarting its export to the United Kingdom.
The contraband, valued at several million naira, was hidden within granulated pepper, melon seeds, yam flour, and other commonly consumed products.
Femi Babafemi, the NDLEA’s Director of Media and Advocacy, revealed the discovery in a post on his X (formerly Twitter) account on Sunday.
He shared a video of the intercepted items, highlighting the creative but nefarious tactics employed by drug traffickers.
Babafemi wrote, “The unimaginable places #ndlea_nigeria officers find illicit drugs these days will make you cringe and be more careful when dealing with humans.
In this video is cocaine worth millions, concealed in granulated pepper, melon seeds, yam flour, and other items, bound for the UK.”
The seizure underscores the NDLEA’s commitment to disrupting drug trafficking networks using sophisticated techniques to smuggle contraband.
This interception sends a strong message to drug syndicates about the agency’s vigilance and capacity to uncover concealed narcotics, no matter how ingeniously disguised.
Authorities have reiterated their warning to the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities to curb the growing threat of drug trafficking.
