Dangote Truck Collides with JustRite Vehicle, Leaving One Dead and Two Injured

A devastating accident unfolded in Lagos’s Maryland area on Friday when a Dangote Group concrete mixer truck lost control, colliding with a JustRite retail truck and claiming the life of the driver. The tragic incident, attributed to brake failure, left two additional victims injured after the Dangote truck veered off course, eventually crashing into a nearby building.

According to Dr. Olufemi Oke-Osanyintolu of the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA), the JustRite truck driver was loading goods into his vehicle at the time of impact and tragically lost his life on the spot. Following the collision, the Dangote truck continued its uncontrolled path, injuring two pedestrians before coming to a halt against a building.

Emergency responders, including LASEMA and police officers, arrived swiftly after receiving distress calls and initiated rescue operations. Oke-Osanyintolu confirmed the injured victims were transported to Gbagada General Hospital, while the deceased driver’s body was handed over to his family.

“The investigation revealed that the Dangote truck suffered a brake failure, leading to the tragic collision,” Oke-Osanyintolu explained, underscoring LASEMA's ongoing investigation into the mechanical failure.

The incident has sparked discussions on road safety regulations, as officials examine the causes of the brake failure and consider measures to prevent such tragedies on Lagos roads.
