Operating under the banner of the Ogonis in Diaspora Organisation, members of the Ogoni community abroad have appealed to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to intervene in the political turmoil destabilizing Rivers State.
In a strongly worded open letter, they expressed deep concern over the protracted crisis and its detrimental effect on the state's development.
The letter, signed by Chief Ambrose Kii, President of the Ogonis in Diaspora Organisation, highlights the growing frustration with the President’s continued silence.
The group insists that decisive action is needed, particularly to rein in the actions of the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Chief Nyesom Wike.
Kii accused Wike of exploiting the political impasse to undermine the administration of the current governor, Siminalayi Fubara, for personal gain.
The diaspora group fears that the ongoing crisis, if unchecked, will not only stifle growth in the state but also erode democratic principles.
They called on President Tinubu to promptly address the situation, emphasizing that Rivers State's stability is essential for both regional and national development.
The Ogonis in Diaspora Organization's plea reflects a broader call for urgent leadership in resolving the lingering political gridlock.
