In a significant crackdown on terrorism, the Nigerian Army, in collaboration with other security agencies, has arrested 15 individuals involved in supplying arms and logistics to terrorists.
This operation was conducted across various locations in the country, demonstrating a robust response to credible intelligence on terrorist activities.
According to a statement released on the Nigerian Army's official X handle on Monday, the military's actions were part of a broader effort to neutralize threats and disrupt the logistics networks that sustain terrorist groups.
The operations led to the neutralization of one suspected terrorist and the recovery of a substantial cache of arms, ammunition, and logistics materials.
On August 30, 2024, troops executed a raid on known terrorist gunrunners and logistic suppliers in Mararaba Donga and Manya village, located in the Donga and Takum local government areas of Taraba State.
The raid resulted in the arrest of five suspects and the seizure of a significant cache of weapons, including three AK-47 rifles, two fabricated rifles, two single-barrel guns, and additional ammunition and equipment.
Further operations in Jimbal Village of Tarmuwa local government area, Yobe State, led to the arrest of three Boko Haram logistic suppliers.
During preliminary investigations, the suspects confessed to being in the business of supplying logistics to terrorists for over two years, evading security checks by collaborating with some local vigilantes.
The army recovered three vehicles, five motorcycles, spare parts, and a large quantity of drugs. Rolls of fabric used by terrorists to sew uniforms and a sum of N48,000.00 were also seized.
