Tinubu Calls for Patience Amid Protests, Promises Economic Turnaround

In a recent address, President Bola Tinubu urged Nigerians to remain patient and calm as his administration tackles the nation's economic issues.
This appeal follows widespread protests demanding the reinstatement of the fuel subsidy, which Tinubu removed on May 29, 2023.

Speaking via an official video released on August 7, 2024, Tinubu acknowledged the hardships caused by the subsidy removal, attributing the struggle to an "avoidable lag" in implementing his economic plans. Despite the challenges, he reassured citizens that his policies would yield positive outcomes.

"Fellow Nigerians, this period may be hard on us and there’s no doubt that it is tough on us, but I urge you all to look beyond the present temporary pains and aim at the larger picture. All our good and helpful plans are in the works. More importantly, I know that they will work," Tinubu stated.

He emphasized his commitment to affordable education and student loans, ensuring no Nigerian student would have to abandon their studies due to financial constraints. Tinubu assured the nation, "We are exiting the darkness to enter a new and glorious dawn."

This marks Tinubu's second address to the nation amid the ongoing unrest, following a previous broadcast on August 4, 2024.
