In a touching display of community spirit, Ukeyima John UKmoni and his business associate Engr Iko Benjamin, along with others, paid a visit to a man in his 60s who was spotted helping a lady sell roasted corn at the gate of the College of Health Sciences, Makurdi.
The story, which went viral yesterday, has captivated hearts across the region.
The elderly man, impeccably dressed, caught the attention of many, including renowned journalist Rea Madog. Inspired by the story, Madog suggested that Ukeyima and his friends visit the site to support the man's noble effort.
During their visit, Engr Iko Benjamin generously donated 50,000 Naira to the man and the lady to boost their corn business. Ukeyima John UKmoni also contributed 20,000 Naira, with additional donations flowing in from other well-wishers.
In an unexpected and heartwarming twist, free roasted corn was handed out to everyone present, including passersby, creating a festive atmosphere at the college gate.
"We were deeply moved by the dedication and humility of this elderly man," said Ukeyima. "It's important to support such selfless acts in our community."
The story has not only highlighted the importance of community support but has also encouraged residents to patronize the roasted corn sellers near Benue State University (BSU).
