Akwa Ibom Doubles Federal Rice Donation to Combat Hunger: 48,000 Bags to Aid Families

In a significant move to alleviate hunger and poverty, the Akwa Ibom State government has doubled the rice donation from the Federal Government, adding another 24,000 bags of 25kg rice to the original 24,000 bags.
This initiative aims to support more families in need across the state.

Dr. Offiong Offor, the Commissioner for Agriculture and Rural Development, made this announcement during a press briefing at the NIJ Secretariat in Uyo on Friday. She emphasized that this action reflects Governor Umo Eno’s commitment to addressing food insecurity and poverty through innovative and proactive measures, rather than resorting to blame games.

"The governor's approach is rooted in creative thinking and a determination to uplift people out of poverty and drive developmental progress," Dr. Offor stated. This enhanced rice distribution effort underscores the state government's dedication to ensuring food availability and supporting its residents during challenging times.
