Tragedy in Enugu: Alleged Vandal Electrocuted at EEDC Transformer Site


In the early hours of Friday, tragedy struck when the lifeless body of an alleged vandal was discovered inside an Enugu Electricity Distribution Company (EEDC) transformer enclosure on Missionary Avenue, Coal Camp, Enugu.
 The deceased was reportedly electrocuted while attempting to cut armored cables as power supply was restored, leaving him in contact with live wires.

Mr. Emeka Ezeh, Head of Corporate Communications at EEDC, confirmed the incident, calling it "tragic and very unfortunate." The identity of the suspect remains undisclosed pending further investigation.

Ezeh expressed concern over the rising incidents of vandalism on EEDC's network, highlighting the negative impact on service quality and revenue. He emphasized the need for collective action to combat this issue, urging customers to help protect local electricity facilities.
