Vice President Senator Kashim Shettima, on Friday, officially flagged off the Federal Government’s inaugural airlift of Nigerian pilgrims to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia for the 2025 Hajj.
The symbolic ceremony marks the commencement of this year’s pilgrimage operations, which will see thousands of Nigerian Muslims journey to the holy land.
Speaking at the event, Vice President Shettima urged the intending pilgrims to uphold exemplary conduct during their spiritual journey, emphasizing that their behavior should reflect the values and principles cherished by Nigeria.
“As ambassadors of our great nation, your conduct must portray the discipline, dignity, and respect for others that define who we are,” Shettima said.
“This sacred journey is not only a fulfillment of religious obligation but also an opportunity to project Nigeria in a positive light to the global Muslim community.”
The Vice President also commended the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON) and other stakeholders for their diligent preparations, assuring the pilgrims of the Federal Government’s commitment to ensuring a safe, smooth, and spiritually fulfilling Hajj exercise.
The 2025 Hajj pilgrimage is expected to witness enhanced logistics, improved welfare packages, and seamless coordination in line with global best practices.
