Katsina State Governor, Dikko Umaru Radda, on Friday presided over a strategic meeting of the North-West Governors’ Forum held in Kaduna State.
The meeting was convened to deepen regional collaboration among the states in the North-West, with a focus on security, economic growth, and agricultural development.
Present at the meeting were Governor Dauda Lawal of Zamfara State, Governor Umar Namadi of Jigawa State, Governor Uba Sani of Kaduna State, and the Director-General of the Forum, Hajiya Maryam Musa Yahaya. The gathering marks another major step in the ongoing efforts by North-West leaders to jointly tackle the region’s pressing challenges.
In a statement released by the Chief Press Secretary to the Katsina State Governor, Ibrahim Mohammed, Governor Radda, who serves as Chairman of the Forum, reiterated the developmental and non-partisan nature of the meeting.
He emphasized that the Forum was established shortly after their inauguration into office and has remained focused on driving regional progress through unity and cooperation.
Radda noted that since the inception of the Forum, member states have shown commitment in working together, particularly on issues affecting the economy, agriculture, and insecurity.
He added that the collaboration is already yielding results, thanks to active partnerships with development agencies and the successful implementation of various joint initiatives.
He stressed that the Forum is not driven by political affiliation but by the shared goal of improving the lives of citizens across the North-West. “This is not a partisan forum. It’s a forum of progress—one that prioritises the economic wellbeing and safety of our people,” Radda said.
The Katsina Governor warmly welcomed his fellow governors and expressed appreciation to the press and stakeholders who were present at the opening session.
Following the remarks, he called for a closed-door meeting to allow for in-depth deliberation on critical issues affecting the region.
The North-West Governors’ Forum continues to position itself as a formidable bloc in addressing insecurity, driving economic transformation, and enhancing inter-state cooperation for sustainable development in northern Nigeria.
