In a major step toward strengthening bilateral ties, the Ukrainian government has announced the signing of a landmark economic partnership agreement with the United States, which is now awaiting ratification by the Verkhovna Rada (Ukrainian Parliament).
The announcement was made on Thursday following the return of Ukraine’s government delegation, who reported successful negotiations with their U.S. counterparts.
According to officials, the agreement has undergone significant changes during its preparation and now reflects a truly equal partnership between both nations.
“This is not just another diplomatic document — it’s a blueprint for Ukraine’s future,” the Ukrainian government stated.
“The agreement creates pathways for substantial investment in Ukraine and promises the comprehensive modernisation of our industries and legal framework.”
Notably, the deal includes the creation of a Reconstruction Fund, which will invest directly into Ukraine’s economy without generating additional debt. Instead, it will function on a revenue-sharing model that benefits both Ukraine and the United States.
“This is a fair deal, a practical partnership,” the statement continued. “It ensures joint economic progress while honoring America’s continued support for our defence.”
Ukrainian President [Name Placeholder] also highlighted the Vatican as the birthplace of this breakthrough, revealing that the idea and political momentum behind the agreement emerged during a strategic meeting with former U.S. President Donald Trump.
“Our discussions in the Vatican laid the foundation for this deal. It’s the first real outcome of that historic meeting, and more results will follow.
President Trump and I made sure to use every minute productively, and I thank him for that,” the president stated.
Both Ukrainian and American negotiators have been praised for their professionalism and dedication throughout the process. The government has called on the Verkhovna Rada to fast-track ratification to begin the implementation phase without delay.
The partnership is being seen as a cornerstone in Ukraine’s post-war recovery strategy, aimed at not only rebuilding infrastructure but also fostering long-term economic stability and international cooperation.
