The Kaduna State Police Command has arrested two personnel of the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) and two civilians in connection with the alleged torture and killing of a fuel attendant in Kaduna.
Among the civilians arrested is the manager of the fuel station where the incident reportedly occurred. The arrests were confirmed on Monday following an intensive investigation by law enforcement authorities into the tragic death.
According to preliminary findings, the incident took place after a dispute involving the deceased and some individuals at the fuel station.
Eyewitnesses claim the attendant was subjected to brutal physical abuse that resulted in fatal injuries. The police have not disclosed the name of the victim but stated that a post-mortem examination has been ordered to ascertain the cause of death.
Kaduna State Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Mansir Hassan, while confirming the arrests, stated that the suspects are currently in custody and assisting with the ongoing investigation.
“We are committed to ensuring justice is served. No one is above the law, regardless of their status,” he said.
The Nigerian Air Force has also acknowledged the incident and pledged full cooperation with the police in their investigation.
In a brief statement, the NAF assured the public that it does not condone acts of indiscipline or criminality among its personnel.
The arrest has sparked outrage among residents, with calls for transparency and swift prosecution of those involved. Human rights groups have also urged the authorities to ensure the matter is not swept under the carpet.
