The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has officially commenced the rescheduled 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) for candidates who experienced technical disruptions during the initial examination period.
Notices were sent out on Thursday to affected candidates via SMS, informing them of their new examination dates, times, and centres. Candidates in Lagos, Imo, Anambra, Enugu, Ebonyi, and Abia states were among those who received the rescheduling notifications.
A total of 379,997 candidates are expected to sit for the retake, which began today and will continue through Saturday and Monday, following the technical and human errors that marred earlier UTME sessions.
The JAMB Registrar, Prof. Is-haq Oloyede, during a press briefing on Wednesday in Abuja, confirmed that the disruptions were due to a combination of human and technical challenges, not sabotage. He assured the public that JAMB has taken corrective measures to ensure a smooth and credible examination process in the rescheduled sessions.
“We regret the inconvenience these issues caused candidates and their families. The board is working tirelessly to ensure that every affected candidate gets a fair and seamless opportunity to take their exam,” Oloyede stated.
Reports from across the country indicate that candidates in the first batch of today’s rescheduled exam — which commenced at 8:00 am — have successfully completed their tests and exited the examination halls, a sign that the remedial measures may be yielding results.
JAMB reiterated its commitment to maintaining the integrity of the examination process and ensuring that all candidates are assessed fairly and efficiently.
