The Federal Government has summoned Air Peace Limited following widespread complaints over persistent flight delays and cancellations by the airline.
The move was announced by the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA), which described the disruptions as a growing source of inconvenience and frustration for the travelling public.
According to the NCAA, the decision to invite Air Peace for discussions stems from the increasing volume of complaints received from passengers, many of whom have suffered schedule disruptions, missed appointments, and financial losses due to the airline's irregular operations.
“The NCAA is deeply concerned about the pattern of delays and cancellations by Air Peace in recent weeks.
This is affecting public confidence in our aviation sector,” a spokesperson for the Authority said. “We have invited the airline to explain the root causes of these issues and to present a comprehensive plan for corrective action.”
The regulatory body emphasized that it is committed to protecting the rights of passengers and ensuring that airlines uphold the highest standards of service delivery.
It also noted that appropriate sanctions could be considered should the airline fail to provide satisfactory explanations or solutions.
Passengers have taken to social media to express their dissatisfaction, with many calling for stricter regulation and better enforcement of consumer protection laws within the aviation industry.
Air Peace has yet to issue an official response, but industry analysts suggest that factors such as operational logistics, aircraft maintenance challenges, and route overbooking could be contributing to the disruptions.
The NCAA has reassured the public that it will continue to monitor the situation and take all necessary steps to maintain confidence in Nigeria’s aviation system.
