Annie Macaulay, the estranged wife of Nigerian music legend Innocent “2Baba” Idibia, has publicly confirmed their divorce, putting months of speculation to rest.
The emotional revelation came during the 17th Headies Awards ceremony on Sunday night, where Annie co-presented an award alongside Farooq Oreagba, famously dubbed the "King of Steeze" after his iconic appearance at the 2024 Ojude Oba festival.
While introducing herself on stage, Annie stumbled momentarily, inadvertently revealing the change in her marital status.
"Annie Idi… Oh sorry, Annie Macaulay. Hey, single ladies!" she said, drawing loud cheers and applause from the audience, many of whom quickly caught on to the significance of her words.
This marks the first official public confirmation of the separation since 2Baba's announcement in January 2025. Although Annie subtly hinted at the split earlier — notably when she reappeared on social media in March, using her full maiden name "Annie Uwana Macaulay" on Instagram without the "Idibia" surname — Sunday night's slip made it official.
Annie and 2Baba share two children together and were once regarded as one of Nigeria’s most admired celebrity couples. Their love story, which spanned over two decades, had weathered multiple storms before ultimately coming to an end earlier this year.
Following their separation, 2Baba has moved on swiftly, proposing to his new fiancée, Edo State lawmaker Natasha Osawaru. He has since introduced her to his family and kinsmen in Benue State, fueling speculation that another high-profile wedding could soon be on the horizon.
Meanwhile, Annie’s candid moment at the Headies has been hailed by fans and observers as a bold and refreshing reclaiming of her identity — and a declaration of a new chapter in her life.
