The Nigerian Navy has uncovered a storage facility used for illegal oil activities in Tumburu Community, Bayelsa State.
The operation, carried out by Nigerian Navy Ship (NNS) SOROH, led to the discovery of pipes, valves used for illegal connections, and numerous sacks containing illegally refined products.
Announcing the development on its verified Facebook account on Tuesday, the Navy stated that the facility was deactivated as part of its continued efforts to combat oil theft and illegal refining activities in the region.
In a related operation, the NNS SOROH patrol team also discovered and dismantled an illegal refining site in Biseni forest, Bayelsa State. The site contained 12 refining ovens, metal collectors, a 5.5KVA generator, one motorcycle, and two large dug-out pits filled with stolen crude oil and illegally refined Automotive Gas Oil (AGO).
The Navy reaffirmed its commitment to tackling oil-related crimes, urging communities to support security efforts in safeguarding Nigeria’s natural resources.
