The Iorpev Support Group for Alia 2027 (ISG Alia 2027) has reaffirmed its unwavering commitment to the re-election bid of Benue State Governor, Rev. Fr. Hyacinth Iormem Alia, as the 2027 general elections approach.
This declaration was made during the group’s quarterly strategic meeting held on Monday, April 21, 2025, at the Tse-Agberagba residence of their founder, Chief Solomon Iorpev.
The group expressed profound gratitude to Governor Alia for reappointing Chief Iorpev as the Director General of the Benue State Signage and Advertisement Agency. They described the gesture as a strong vote of confidence in his past performance as a Technical Adviser and a testament to his capacity to deliver in public service.
Speaking through prominent leaders—Hon. Godwin Feese, Hon. Terhemba Nashakyaa, Hon. Peter Koko, Hon. Gabriel Akua, Hon. Alex Korgba, Hon. Margaret Tashan, and Hon. Solomon Dzuah—the group passionately debunked circulating rumours suggesting that Chief Iorpev has political ambitions for 2027.
“The falsehood that our founder is contesting an election in 2027 is being peddled by mischief makers who are uncomfortable with his growing influence and unwavering support for Governor Alia,” they said.
The ISG Alia 2027 condemned what it described as “orchestrated attacks” against Chief Iorpev, including from detractors within his own district, who they allege are working to sabotage his efforts to mobilize support for Governor Alia.
As part of efforts to strengthen grassroots engagement, the group expanded its contact and mobilization committee to include five members in each council ward.
Additionally, new executive council members were elected and inaugurated with a clear mandate to showcase the achievements of Governor Alia’s administration to the grassroots.
