Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem Robbed at D.C. Restaurant—$3,000, Passport, and DHS Badge Stolen

Department of Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem was the victim of a bold theft while dining at a downtown Washington, D.C., restaurant on Sunday night, CNN reports, citing sources familiar with the incident, including law enforcement.

According to the report, security footage reviewed by the Secret Service—who are responsible for Noem’s protection—shows an unidentified white male wearing a medical mask stealing her handbag and leaving the restaurant unnoticed.

The stolen bag reportedly contained highly sensitive items including Noem’s driver’s license, passport, DHS access badge, apartment keys, and medication.

Also taken were her makeup bag, blank checks, and approximately $3,000 in cash, a law enforcement source confirmed.

The Secret Service has since launched a full investigation to trace any attempted use of Noem’s financial documents and to locate the suspect.
