Vice Admiral Ibok-ete Ibas (retd.), the newly appointed sole administrator for Rivers State, has officially arrived in the state to assume duties following his appointment by President Bola Tinubu.
Ibas touched down at the Port Harcourt International Airport at approximately 11:25 AM on Thursday, where he was received by top government officials and security personnel.
Accompanying him were the Rivers State Commissioner of Police, Olugbenga Adepoju, and the Assistant Inspector General of Police, Zone 16, highlighting the high level of security surrounding his arrival.
Immediately after landing, Ibas proceeded to the Rivers State Government House, where he was given a tour of the premises by senior government officials.
His arrival marks the beginning of a new phase of administration in Rivers State following the suspension of Governor Siminalaye Fubara and other key state officials as part of the emergency measures declared by President Tinubu.
Currently, the sole administrator is engaged in a closed-door meeting with senior security officers, a Federal Government delegation, and top state government officials.
The discussions are expected to focus on strategies for stabilizing the state and ensuring security in the wake of recent political tensions.
Vice Admiral Ibas was sworn in on Wednesday by President Tinubu and given full administrative control over the state. His role is expected to be critical in restoring order and governance during the state of emergency.
