Senate President Urges Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan to Apologize for Possible Suspension Reversal

In a bid to resolve the ongoing controversy surrounding the suspension of Kogi Central Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, Senate President Godswill Akpabio has advised her to tender an apology to the Senate.
This, he suggested, could pave the way for a possible reconsideration of the six-month suspension handed down to her.

Akpoti-Uduaghan was suspended following a heated session in the Senate, where she was accused of breaching parliamentary protocols.

The suspension sparked widespread reactions, with supporters and political analysts questioning the severity of the punishment.

Speaking on the matter, Akpabio emphasized the importance of maintaining decorum in the Senate, adding that an apology could serve as a step toward reconciliation.

“If she truly values her role in this esteemed chamber, she should seize this opportunity to apologize. The Senate may then reconsider her suspension,” he stated.

However, sources close to Akpoti-Uduaghan reveal that she remains firm in her stance, believing that her suspension was politically motivated.

Some of her allies argue that apologizing could set a precedent for silencing dissenting voices within the legislative body.

With this latest development, all eyes are on Akpoti-Uduaghan to see whether she will comply with Akpabio’s advice or stand her ground.

The Senate’s response to her decision could have significant implications for legislative proceedings in the coming months.
