Suspended Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, has strongly denied any connections to militant groups, warning against attempts to incite violence or economic sabotage in his name.
In a statement released on Monday by his Chief Press Secretary, Nelson Chukwudi, in Port Harcourt, Fubara condemned the circulation of what he described as “fake” and “malicious” videos alleging explosions at oil and gas facilities in the state.
He urged security agencies to investigate the sources of these videos and ensure that those responsible are held accountable.
Fubara dismissed the allegations, stating that communities where the supposed incidents occurred have already debunked the claims and reassured the public that critical government assets remain safe and functional.
He emphasized that there is no connection between him and any militant group, stressing that he would never support any criminal activity that could threaten peace or economic stability.
The governor reaffirmed his commitment to maintaining peace and security in Rivers State, reiterating that only in a stable environment can governance and development thrive.
He stated that he is willing to go to any length to ensure that peace is sustained in the state, adding that any attempt to associate him with violence is politically motivated.
Fubara also issued a stern warning to those spreading falsehoods online, accusing them of attempting to create chaos and mislead the public.
He called on security agencies to take immediate action against those responsible for the misleading videos and to prevent further attempts to destabilize the state.
He made it clear that Rivers State must not be used as a battleground for political or economic sabotage, and that anyone trying to do so will face the full weight of the law.
With political tensions running high, Fubara’s statement aims to dispel rumors and reassure the public that he remains committed to upholding peace and stability in Rivers State.
