A vocal group of residents from Konshisha Local Government Area has openly declared their opposition to Governor Hyacinth Alia’s potential bid for a second term in the 2027 general elections.
Expressing their frustration and disappointment, the group lamented what they described as a complete lack of development in their community under the current administration.
The aggrieved residents, who gathered to voice their grievances, stated that Governor Alia’s government has failed to address the pressing issues facing Konshisha, including infrastructural decay, unemployment, and general neglect.
According to them, despite their overwhelming support for Alia in the last election, they have received nothing in return.
"We voted for Governor Alia with high hopes, but today, Konshisha remains stagnant. Our roads are in deplorable condition, businesses are struggling, and graduates remain jobless. We feel abandoned," one of the protesters stated bitterly.
The group further warned that unless significant changes occur, they will not support the governor’s re-election bid. "If things do not improve, he should count us out in 2027. We will not vote for him again!" they vowed.
Their stance highlights growing discontent within some communities in Benue State over the perceived failure of the government to equitably distribute development projects.
Political analysts suggest that such sentiments, if widespread, could pose a significant challenge to Governor Alia’s re-election aspirations.
As the 2027 elections approach, the coming months will reveal whether the governor will heed the calls for action and make amends or risk losing crucial voter support.
