The Nigeria Police Force has achieved a significant victory in the fight against child trafficking and banditry, rescuing 207 abducted children and thwarting multiple criminal operations across the country.
These efforts were detailed in a statement released on Monday by the Force Spokesperson, Muyiwa Adejobi.
Among the key successes was the dismantling of a child abduction syndicate in Akure, Ondo State. Acting on intelligence related to a missing child, the police arrested three suspects
Abosede Olanipekun, Lukman Isiaka, and Sabira Izuorah. During the operation, 14 children, ranging in age from one week to seven years, were rescued.
This breakthrough underscores the police’s intensified efforts to combat human trafficking and the proliferation of illegal baby factories.
Adejobi confirmed that nationwide operations have led to the successful rescue of over 207 abducted children, marking a significant achievement in the ongoing fight against child traffickers.
In a related development, police forces in Kogi and Katsina States successfully foiled two separate bandit attacks on January 18, 2025.
In Kogi State, officers intercepted a group of armed bandits during a strategic meeting in Budon Forest. Upon engaging the police, the bandits were overpowered following a gun battle.
One bandit was neutralized, and four others were apprehended. Items recovered from the scene included an AK-47 rifle, two magazines, 30 rounds of live ammunition, and two motorcycles.
In Katsina State, swift police action prevented a potential attack on Ruwan Doruwa Village in Dutsinma Local Government Area.
Responding to a distress call, police operatives, in collaboration with other security agencies, intercepted armed bandits and engaged them in a fierce exchange of fire.
These achievements highlight the Nigeria Police Force’s commitment to ensuring the safety of citizens and eradicating criminal activities.
Adejobi emphasized that the operations reflect the force's resolve to restore peace and security in affected regions, promising continued vigilance in the face of such threats.
