In November, Kano State faced a series of fire incidents that caused devastating losses, with property worth over ₦132,450,000 destroyed.
The Kano State Fire Service, led by Hassan Muhammad, reported these alarming figures while highlighting their efforts to mitigate further damage.
Spokesman Saminu Abdullahi revealed that the service recorded 43 fire calls, rescued three persons, and tragically witnessed the loss of three lives.
However, their swift actions saved property valued at ₦310,600,000, alongside four individuals, as they responded to emergencies from 29 fire stations across the state.
The statement also noted six false alarms and five rescue calls during the month. Abdullahi urged the public to exercise caution, particularly during the dry harmattan season, to prevent further fire outbreaks.
"I appeal to the general public to handle fire with care to avoid incidents, especially during this harmattan period.
Motorists must also adhere to traffic laws and drive carefully, particularly with the Christmas holiday approaching, to avoid road accidents," Abdullahi stressed.
The Fire Service's consistent vigilance and prompt interventions have played a crucial role in safeguarding lives and minimizing losses amid challenging circumstances.
