Activist VeryDarkMan Alleges N180 Million Theft from NGO Account After Hack

Controversial activist Martins Otse, widely known as VeryDarkMan (VDM), has raised alarms over the alleged theft of over N180 million from his NGO’s account following a cyberattack.

The activist, known for his outspoken views, disclosed the shocking incident in a video shared on Instagram on Friday.

Otse, who launched the Martins Vincent Osei Initiative in October to much fanfare, had amassed over N35 million in donations within hours of the launch.

The initiative received a significant boost when renowned music producer Michael Collins Ajereh, popularly known as Don Jazzy, contributed a staggering N100 million.

However, Otse revealed that the funds were unlawfully diverted to an unknown account. “Honestly, I’ve not been myself for the past few days,” he said.

“Somebody hacked into the NGO website, and N180 million is missing. Thankfully, we’ve tracked the person, and one suspect has been arrested.”

The activist further stated that the account has been placed on a Post No Debit (PND) order, leaving N20 million intact, while N160 million was diverted.

“We’re heading to Jos to recover the money,” he added, indicating that efforts are underway to retrieve the stolen funds.

As a precaution, Otse temporarily shut down the NGO’s app to prevent further breaches and assured supporters that he would provide updates on the situation.

The incident has sparked widespread concern and discussions about cybersecurity measures for organizations handling large sums of money.
