President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has elevated Jamiu Abiola, son of the late Chief Moshood Abiola, to the position of Senior Special Assistant on Linguistics and Foreign Matters.
The appointment, announced by Segun Imohiosen, Director of Information and Public Relations in the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, takes effect from November 14, 2024.
Jamiu Abiola, who previously served as Special Assistant to the President on Special Duties in the Office of the Vice-President, will now work closely with the Federal Ministry of Foreign Affairs to enhance the administration’s diplomatic engagements.
President Tinubu emphasized the importance of Abiola’s new role, urging him to leverage his expertise in linguistics and international relations to strengthen Nigeria’s global standing.
The appointment aligns with the Certain Political and Judicial Office Holders (Salaries and Allowances, etc) Act 2008, as amended.
Jamiu Abiola is widely known as the son of the late Chief Moshood Abiola, the acclaimed winner of Nigeria’s annulled 1993 presidential election.
This new position marks another chapter in his public service career under the Tinubu administration.
