In a key development for financial inclusion in Benue State, Hon. Chikyaa Terfa Moses, Executive Chairman of Konshisha Local Government Area, met yesterday with Chirzendan Peter, Konshisha Coordinator for NOVUS Microfinance Bank Agent Banking.
Hon. Moses voiced strong support for the NOVUS initiative, emphasizing the need to take the program across the local government area. He pledged to provide full cooperation to ensure the program’s success in Konshisha.
This program, part of the Benue Financial Inclusion Project spearheaded by His Excellency Rev. Fr. Dr. Hyacinth Iormem Alia, aims to transform local economies by empowering 3,000 youths as banking agents throughout Benue State’s 276 council wards.
It seeks to increase financial literacy, offer credit access to small businesses, foster economic development, and create jobs for the state’s youth.
By expanding banking services within a 5-kilometer radius of local residents, Chirzendan Peter and his team are set to bridge financial gaps and bring essential services closer to the people.
This initiative resonates with Governor Alia's vision for economic empowerment and community upliftment.
As the project progresses, it is expected to stimulate the local economy, benefiting small businesses, market traders, and vulnerable groups, including Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs).
With support from Hon. Moses and the Konshisha Local Government Area, the NOVUS Microfinance Agent Banking program is poised to make a lasting impact in the community, contributing to a stronger and more inclusive economy in Benue State.
