Diaspora Alumnus Donates Multi-Million Naira to Tilley Gyado College Makurdi

In a heartwarming gesture of philanthropy, Tilley Gyado College Makurdi (TGCM) has received a multi-million Naira donation from one of its distinguished alumni, Dr. David E. Ejeh.
The contribution, which includes valuable sporting kits for various athletic disciplines, underscores Dr. Ejeh's dedication to fostering educational and extracurricular excellence at his alma mater.

Dr. Ejeh, a proud member of TGCM’s Set of 1979, is the Senior Director of Analytical Chemistry and Process Analytical Technology at Albemarle Corporation in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, USA.
His visit to Nigeria was strategically timed to coincide with the school’s 50th-anniversary celebration, originally slated for November 2024.

However, the event was rescheduled to December following the unfortunate passing of the wife of the school’s current proprietor.
Despite the postponement, Dr. Ejeh's visit was met with enthusiasm and gratitude from the TGCM community.

He was warmly received by the school’s principal, Dr. Emmanuel Zakaa, alongside his management team, representatives of the Parent-Teacher Association, and other staff members.

In his address, Dr. Zakaa lauded Dr. Ejeh's generosity, emphasizing the transformative impact the donation will have on the school’s sporting programs.

He also reiterated the need for sustained investment in infrastructure to maintain TGCM’s legacy as a center of academic and extracurricular excellence.

Mr. Austin Audu, the National President of the TGCM Old Students Association (TIGCMOSA), praised the gesture as a rallying call for other alumni to contribute to the school's growth and development.
"Dr. Ejeh’s donation is not just about sports; it’s about inspiring a culture of giving back and investing in education for the future," he stated.

Dr. Ejeh was accompanied by notable alumni during his visit, including:

Mr. Austin Audu (Set 78), National President, TIGCMOSA

Engr. Michael Mbele (Set 81), National Secretary, TIGCMOSA

Magaji Mijinyawa (Set 78)

Mallam Abdul Maigoro Uba (Set 79)

Dr. Bruce Iormom (Set 97)

Mr. Peter Apir (Set 85)

Dr. Godwin Koko

The event highlights the strength of TGCM’s alumni network and the enduring bond between past students and their alma mater.

As preparations for the rescheduled 50th-anniversary celebration continue, this donation serves as a beacon of hope, encouraging other alumni to emulate Dr. Ejeh’s commitment to supporting education in Nigeria.

Tilley Gyado College Makurdi, founded in 1974, remains a prominent institution in Nigeria, producing well-rounded graduates equipped to excel globally.
